Use the New Project dialog box to create a new SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) project. To access the New Project dialog box, on the File menu, select New Project.
Options
Name
Enter the name of the project. SSMA appends the file extension.
Location
Enter or browse to the folder or network location to save the project.
Migrate To
Select one of the target database versions from the following list:
- SQL Server 2019 (15.x) on Windows and Linux
- SQL Server 2022 (16.x) on Windows and Linux
- SQL Server 2025 (17.x) on Windows and Linux
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure SQL Managed Instance
